Eltigen Layer Ib,c (Pleistocene of Ukraine)

Also known as Kerch

Where: Ukraine (45.2° N, 36.4° E: paleocoordinates 45.2° N, 36.4° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Late/Upper Pleistocene (0.1 - 0.0 Ma)

• two beds totalling approximately 4 m within "Karangatian marine deposits, 20-25 m thick"

•assigned to the last interglacial based on a U/Th date of 127 +/- 8.9 ka for layer Ib

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; sandstone and siltstone

• "presence of authigenic glauconite characterizes the increase of the marine sedimentation [relative to a lagoonal environment]... sorted sands...": layer b is a siltstone and layer c is a sandstone; mammals are found in both layers, but most molluscs are from layer c

Size class: macrofossils
