When: Loppio Oolitic Limestone Formation (Calcari Grigi Group), Late/Upper Sinemurian (196.5 - 189.6 Ma)

• middle-upper part of formation, about 100 m below the base of the Ammonitic Red, higher than Lavini di Marco beds; 6 m below boundary with Rotzo Fm. Originally described as coming from the Rotzo Mbr. of the Calcari Grigi Fm.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lagoonal or restricted shallow subtidal; ooidal grainstone and concretionary, pyritic wackestone

• lower layers - shallow marine tidal currents; upper layer - lagoonal
• "mainly composed of oolitic grainstone (oolitic bars)...the upper footprint-bearing horizon is composed of wackestone layers with pyrite nodules"
