• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Meshikuni Fm, which unconformably overlies the Cretaceous Rebun Gp and is unconformably overlain by the Hamanaka Fm (?Middle Miocene). THICKNESS: From bed within an appoximately ~200 m thick composite (discontinous) section. AGE: Early Miocene on the basis of molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown part of Meshikuni Fm.

Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified, pebbly, sandy siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow water, siliciclastic. TEMPERATURE: Cool-water.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Siltstone with pebbly sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Poorly-lithified on the basis of figured specimens.
