Where: Russian Federation (51.8° N, 143.2° E: paleocoordinates 52.6° N, 141.1° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Daginskaya Formation (Dagi Group), Early/Lower Miocene (23.0 - 16.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From lower Daginskaya suite of the "Dagi" horizon, which lies between the "Uynin" (Early Miocene) and "Okobykay" (Late Miocene) horizons. THICKNESS: Total thickness of unit is 1300 m. AGE: Early MIocene, on the basis of classification into the lower "Dagi" horizons. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Composite checklist for "member" in this area.

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep-water; lithified, silty claystone and lithified, carbonaceous sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Not stated in text; assumed to be cool-water deep-water siliciclastic setting on the basis of faunal composition.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Interbeds of clay, clay siltstones, sandstones with coal layers. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, assumed on the basis of age and facies.
