• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Puerto Madryn Fm, which unconformably overlies the Gaiman Fm (Early Miocene). THICKNESS: From a 2 m thick bed within 22 m thick section. Formation reaches a maximum thickness of 150 m. AGE: Middle Miocene according to del Rio (1992) on the basis of generic affinities with Middle Miocene Caribbean faunas. Regarded as Late Miocene by del Rio (2004). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From very base of section.
