When: Distomodus staurognathoides conodont zone, Minsterley Formation, Aeronian (440.8 - 438.5 Ma)

• probably Fronian (= upper Aeronian). Bergström et al. (2014) report that Spirograptus turriculatus Zone graptolites occur from a single level that has also yielded Distomodus staurognathoides.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; mudstone

• Ziegler et al. (1968) describe these as predominantly mudstones.
