Northeast of Preuss Creek (Conodonts) (Triassic of the United States)

Where: Bear Lake County, Idaho (42.5° N, 111.2° W: paleocoordinates 11.8° N, 35.1° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Thaynes Formation, Spathian (251.3 - 247.2 Ma)

• "lower part of the Spathian Stage... conodont Zone 10"

•illustrated specimens are from the 844 meter level, so the sample presumably is from this one bed

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; medium-grained, shelly/skeletal grainstone and burrowed, argillaceous siltstone

• "shallow water, subtidal calcarenites deposited in a moderate energy environment with periodic silty and shaly incursions which allowed the preservation of abundant horizontal burrows"
• "brachiopods... occur in silicified coquinas and as isolated calcareous shells. The host limestones are medium to coarse grained calcarenites with platy, argillaceous to silty interbeds bearing abundant burrows which parallel the bedding surfaces"

Size class: microfossils

Collected in 1975

• specimens are in the University of Alberta collections
