• The Belperg Beds are composed by two conspicuous fossiliferous beds in the upper part: the "Petrefactenlager" (fossiliferous horizons in the upper part of sandstone and marl succession) in the middle part and the "Muschelsandstein" (coarse sandstone with bivalves, pebbles and shark teeth) at the top.
