• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Overlying Karpatian sediments, but also regionally overlying Paleocene-Jurassic basement rock. THICKNESS: Sampled horizon of ~10 cm within approximately 10 m thick composite section (composed of ~4 m thick pits. AGE: Early Badenian, Lower Lagenid froam biozone, NN5, M5 planktic foram biozone, lower Langhian. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From lower part of section, in coralline algal sand.

Environment/lithology: deep-water; unlithified, fine-grained, shelly/skeletal, sandy marl

• ENVIRONMENT: Water depth probably exceeding 100 m, and up to 500 m. SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY: Highstand conditions at this time within Vienna Basin.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Marl like horizon, with coarse coralline algae fragments embedded in fine sandy matrix. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified, based on description.
