Loc. 16 (Laki Formation) (Eocene of Pakistan)

Where: Pakistan (25.3° N, 67.9° E: paleocoordinates 1.2° N, 60.2° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Laki Formation, Early/Lower Eocene (55.8 - 48.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Laki Fm, which unconformably overlies the Upper Ranikot Fm (Late Paleocene) and is conformably overlain by the Tiyon Fm (Ypresian). THICKNESS: 695 ft thick in total. AGE: Early Eocene age, on the basis of macrofauna by Cox (1931), Iqbal (1969, 1973). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown position within formation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified, concretionary, shelly/skeletal, gray, white, yellow limestone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine environment; carbonate facies.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Limestone with subordinate shale. marl, and laterite. The limestone is chalky white to light cream, light grey, hard, compact, thin-bedded at the base, nodular and marly and fossiliferous at the top. LITHIFICATION: Poorly-lithified on the basis of facies description.

Size class: macrofossils
