• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Fermeuse Fm of the St John's Gp, which overlies the Point Union Mbr (Ediacaran; St John's Gp) and is overlain by the Renews Head Fm (Ediacaran; St John's Gp). THICKNESS: From individual bed within c. 350 m thick regional section of the formation. AGE: Ediacaran on the basis of trace and form fossil biostratigraphy. From unit above horizon dated as 565.3 my by Dunning in Benus (1988). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From basal part of formation, immediately above Loc. 38.

Environment/lithology: basinal (); lithified, black, gray shale

• ENVIRONMENT: Pelagic sedimentation of sloping paleosurface; submarine slope or basin.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Dark gray to black shale and laminated siltstone with thin to medium-bedded fine-grained brown weathering, gray sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified on the basis of figured sections and specimens.
