DV 812-1 [La Planchada Fm] (Pliocene of Peru)

Where: Peru (15.9° S, 74.2° W: paleocoordinates 16.0° S, 73.5° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: La Planchada Formation, Late/Upper Pliocene (3.6 - 2.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the La Planchada Fm, which presumably regionally, unconformably overlies the Pisco Fm (late Early Miocene-Late Pliocene). AGE: Late Pliocene in text, on the basis of K/Ar dates, siliceous microfossil zonation, and molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown position within formation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified siliciclastic sediments

• ENVIRONMENT: Not discussed in text, but appears to be from shallow marine siliciclastic setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Not stated, but presumably "siliciclastic". LITHIFICATION: Poorly-lithified based on figured specimens.

Size class: macrofossils

Collected by DeVries; reposited in the UWBM

Collection methods: surface (in situ),
