Tuape section [Cerro La Ceja Mbr, Mural Fm] (Cretaceous of Mexico)

Where: Sonora, Mexico (30.1° N, 110.7° W: paleocoordinates 31.0° N, 64.6° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Cerro La Ceja Member (Mural Formation), Aptian (125.0 - 113.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Cerro La Ceja Member of the Mural Fm, which overlies unconformably the Rancho Buffalo Mbr and the Morita Fm, and is overlain by the Tuape Shale. AGE: Aptian, on the basis of ammonite, bivalve, and foram biostratigraphy, and U/Pb zircon radiometric ages. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: List representative of entire member at this section.

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified sandstone and lithified, shelly/skeletal, green, argillaceous, silty, calcareous wackestone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine siliciclastic, accumulated during transgressive phase.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Various lithologies, including quartz-rich sandstone with large-scale, planar- and trough-cross stratification, thin- to medium-bedded bicolastic wackestone and grainstone (calcarenite to calcirudite) and interbedded liht gray to green shale and siltstone. LITHIFICATION:
