• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Tuffeau de St Symphorien, which unconformably overlies the Craie de Ciply (Early Maastrichtian). AGE: Maastrichtian, on the basis of ammonite and belemnite biostratigraphy, and stratigraphic position. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Collection is a composite of the entire formation.

Environment/lithology: poorly lithified, yellow, calcareous, cherty/siliceous sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine carbonate setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Yellowish, loose, calcarenite with several flint bands. LITHIFICATION: Poorly-lithified on the basis of facies description.
