GGU 408893 [Kangilia Fm] (Cretaceous of Greenland)

Where: Greenland (70.8° N, 53.3° W: paleocoordinates 62.2° N, 18.2° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Kangilia Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Kangilia Fm, which unconformably overlies the unnamed Late Campanian mudstones, and is unconformably overlain by the Agatdal Fm. AGE: Maastrichtian on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy and palynology. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From near middle of formation at ~340 m above base of section, 112 m above the top of the conglomerate (base of Kangilia Fm). Only 10 m below the K-T boundary

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, concretionary, sandy, carbonaceous mudstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Offshore siliciclastic marine setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Sandy mudstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of figured specimens.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, mold/impression, concretion
