BMR B270a, Exmoor Homestead (Permian of Australia)

Where: Queensland, Australia (21.0° S, 148.1° E: paleocoordinates 56.2° S, 140.6° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Echinalosia deari brachiopod zone, Blenheim Formation, Wuchiapingian (259.9 - 254.2 Ma)

• Upper Blenheim, close to "Streptorhynchus bed" Shown approximately 400 m above the Scottville Member, and 520 m below the top of the Middle Bowen Beds (i.e. top of Blenheim Formation) in section 5 near Exmoor Homestead. Presence of Echinalosia deari suggests an age within the E. deari zone, correlated with the middle part of APP5 palynomorph zone (Briggs, 1998). The APP5 zone was constrained as mid-Wuchiapingian through Changhsingian age by U-Pb dating in Laurie et al. (2016). However, overlying units in the Fort Cooper Coal Measures yield latest Wuchiapingian U-Pb ages (Phillips et al., 2018), constraining the upper Blenheim Fm to Wuchiapingian.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified sandstone

Size class: macrofossils
