Also known as S56/f31; GS9

Where: New Zealand (42.6° S, 173.5° E: paleocoordinates 64.7° S, 144.1° W)

• coordinate based on unpublished field data

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Conway Siltstone Formation, Piripauan (85.8 - 83.5 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Conway Siltstone, which conformably overlies Tarapuhi Grit, and is conformably overlain by the Claverley Sandstone. AGE: Piripauan-Haumurian (=Coniacian-early Campanian), on the basis of macrofossil biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Loose boulders on beach.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: transition zone or lower shoreface; lithified siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Intertidal or directly subtidal environment along present day shorelines in moderate energy.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Siltstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, based on facies description (FRED).

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, mold/impression

Collected by McKay in 1873; reposited in the IGNS

Collection methods: surface (float),
