Also known as “Labyrinthodon” ruetimeyeri holotype site
Where: Basel-Stadt, Switzerland (47.6° N, 7.6° E: paleocoordinates 12.8° N, 18.7° E)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• hand sample-level geographic resolution
When: ? Plattensandstein Formation (Upper Buntsandstein Group), Aegean to Aegean (247.2 - 242.0 Ma)
• "Upper Middle Buntsandstein"
•The Upper Middle Buntsandstein in southern Germany (and northern Switzerland) is represented by a large hiatus. Thus, it is more likely that the locality is in the Upper Buntsandstein, as is the Warmbach-Locality (9 km lateral distance, see coll. 85939), presumably in the Plattensandstein Fm.
•
•Upper Buntsandstein is early Anisian in age (Kozur & Bachmann 2008 Berichte Geol. B.-A., 76)
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: terrestrial; fine-grained, medium sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: mold/impression
