• Banff Fm. in this area in slightly over 2000 ft. thick. The main crinoid zone on the N flank of Nigel Peak lies within one of the shaly units ~1400 ft. above the base.

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; poorly lithified, shelly/skeletal, black, gray, argillaceous limestone

• remarkably cyclic sequence of soft, gray, shaly limestone followed by a harder, gray to black, crinoidal scarp forming limestone.

• Associated with the crinoid fauna is an abundant brachiopod, bryozoan, coral fauna of which the authors only listed "the more common elements." Unlisted fauna include "numerous zaphrentid and cyathophylloid corals on which no studies have been made, and large numbers of fenestrate bryozoans also not studied." Abundance data included for crinoids only, and not all of them at that.
