When: Crisnejas Formation, Early/Lower Albian (112.0 - 109.0 Ma)

• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: From the Crisnejas Fm, which locally overlies the Goyllarisquisga Fm (Early Cretaceous), and is overlain by the Pulluicana Gp (Albian-Cenomanian). AGE: Early Albian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy and stratigraphic position; ? Oxytropidoceras carbonarium zone. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Collection from unit 16, a 36 m thick shale unit, in the lower portion of the section.

Environment/lithology: lithified, gray, calcareous shale

• LITHOLOGY: Shale, calcareous, light gray, thin-bedded, soft, fossiliferous, with thick interbeds of dark gray, massive limestone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of facies description.
