When: Didymograptus murchisoni graptolite zone, Builth Volcanic Formation, Abereiddian (468.0 - 461.1 Ma)

• These beds were said to be coeval with the Ffairfach group which has its type section about 60 km to the southwest (Williams et al., 1981, Palaeontology 24(4)). The term Ffairfach Group now is obsolete according to the British Gelological Survey Lexicon of Named Rock Units (http://www.bgs.ac.uk/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?pub=FFA). Evans (2005) states that the locality is in the D. murchisoni Biozone of the Builth Volcanic Fm. and is Abereiddian in age. The term Builth Volcanic Fm. is obsolete as well, according to the BGS Lexicon of Named Rock Units (http://www.bgs.ac.uk/Lexicon/lexicon.cfm?pub=BUV).

• The presence of coarse clastics suggests that the deposits represent a nearshore environment.
