Also known as type locality of Conoceras llanvirnense Roberts
Where: Wales, United Kingdom (51.9° N, 5.2° W: paleocoordinates 58.7° S, 21.0° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• hand sample-level geographic resolution
When: Didymograptus artus graptolite zone, Aber Mawr Shale Formation, Abereiddian (468.0 - 461.1 Ma)
• "It is possible that the quarry was on the outcrop of either the Aber Mawr Shale Formation or the Cyffredin Shale Member of the Llanrian Volcanic Formation. Robert's (1884, p. 636) faunal list includes 'Phacops llanvirnensis (?)' which may indicate the presence of O. llanvirnensis (Hicks). If such is the case, the currently known range of O. llanvirnensis (Kennedy 1989, text-fig. 3) would suggest, that this specimen originated from the Aber Mawr Shale Formation, D. artus Biozone, Llanvirn Series." (Evans, 2005)
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: offshore; shale
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: cast, mold/impression
Reposited in the SM
