Sta. 4593 - Deearadeaux [Barnwell Sand] (Eocene of the United States)

Where: Aiken County, South Carolina (33.6° N, 81.7° W: paleocoordinates 33.6° N, 73.7° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Barnwell Sand Formation, Late/Upper Eocene (37.2 - 33.9 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Barnwell Sand, which presumably regionally unconformably overlies the McBean Fm, and is regionally correlative with the Cooper Marl and Santee Limestone. AGE: Late Eocene. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From exposure of 5 ft thickness, underlain by patches of fuller's earth. Probably from the upper part of the sandstone

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; unlithified, green, red sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine, shelfal siliciclastic.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Greenish to red sand. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified, on the basis of facies description (friable sand, loose shells).

Size class: macrofossils
