• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the McBean Fm, which regionally unconformably overlies the Black Mingo Fm (Paleocene) and is locally unconformably overlain by the Barnwell Sandstone; the formation is laterally equialent to the Nanjemoy Fm and the Claiborne Gp. AGE: Bartonian, on the basis of recent biostratigraphic dating. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From bed 1 (10 ft thick), at base of section.

Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified, shelly/skeletal, green shale

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine, shelfal siliciclastic.
