Environment/lithology: marine; quartzite and dolomite

• "alternating qtzite and dolo, nearshore, geosynclinal, BA1"
• It appears to have been a light brownish gray, very fine to fine-grained quartz sandstone with a small percentage of dolomite cement. Rare very coarse "floating" milky-blue quartz grains were noted. The specimens are well preserved as molds in a very porous, dark brown, leached, sandstone residue cemented by iron oxide (and silica?). The grain size of the residue is generally fine, indicating possible secondary enlargement during weathering.
