Sister taxa: Reigechimys plesiodon, Reigechimys simplex
Type specimen: MLP 65-VII-29-107, a mandible. Its type locality is Salinas Grandes de Hidalgo, which is in a Huayquerian fluvial siltstone in the Epecuén Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: scansorial herbivore
Distribution:
• Huayquerian of Argentina (4 collections)
Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
