Type specimens:

  • Monjurosuchus splendens: Former Central National Museum of Manchoukou no. 3671 (holotype, destroyed); GMV 2167 (neotype), a partial skeleton (nearly complete skeleton). Its type locality is Tanankou, which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine - large shale/sandstone in the Yixian Formation of China.
  • Rhynchosaurus orientalis: IVPP V3673, a skeleton (subadult individual with skin impressions).
