Type specimens:
- Tataromys sigmodon: AMNH 19079, a maxilla. Its type locality is Loh, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Hsanda Gol Formation of Mongolia.
- Leptotataromys gracilidens:
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution:
• Miocene of Mongolia (1 collection)
• Oligocene of China (12), Kazakhstan (2), Mongolia (8)
