Sister taxa: Celebetes gymnus, Celebetes indica, Celebetes leptus, Celebetes yunnanensis
Type specimen: MPUM 8418, a shell (Articulated shell). Its type locality is Haushi Uplift OL22, Section 1, which is in a Wordian open shallow subtidal limestone in the Khuff Formation of Oman.
