Sister taxa: Sulcirugaria subquadrata, Sulcirugaria transversa

Type specimen: NMV P305866, a valve (Ventral valve). Its type locality is Qubu, Bed 9, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine mudstone in the Qubuerga Formation of China.
