Sister taxa: Megasteges nepalensis, Megasteges randsi, Megasteges septentrionalis
Type specimen: NMV P305927, a valve (Ventral valve). Its type locality is Qubu, Bed 11, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine packstone/siltstone in the Qubuerga Formation of China.
