Type specimens:

  • Maorielasma imperatum: NZGS BR 896. Its type locality is GS6071, Letham Burn (D44/f9622), which is in a Capitanian marine horizon in the Mangarewa Formation of New Zealand.
  • Maorielasma globosum: GSQ F2253. Its type locality is Consuelo Creek, Serocold Anticline, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine siliciclastic in the Peawaddy Formation of Australia.
