Type specimens:

  • Haptodus baylei: a specimen in the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle Paris. Its type locality is Les Telots, which is in an Artinskian terrestrial horizon in France.
  • Palaeohatteria longicaudata: Its type locality is Niederhaslich, which is in a Sakmarian lacustrine limestone in the Niederhäslich-Schweinsdorf Formation of Germany.
  • Pantelosaurus saxonicus: Its type locality is Konigin-Carola-Schacht, which is in an Asselian fine channel fill shale in the Döhlen Formation of Germany.
