Type specimens:

  • Chenoprosopus milleri: FMNH UC 670, a partial skull. Its type locality is Miller Bonebed, which is in a Wolfcamp terrestrial claystone/sandstone in the Abo/Cutler Formation of New Mexico.
  • Chenoprosopus lewisi: USNM 437646, a skull. Its type locality is Shannon, Clay County, which is in a Virgilian/Wolfcamp terrestrial horizon in the Markley Formation of Texas.
