Type specimen: SAM PK-11192, a partial skeleton (cranium, partial mandible, partial cervical vertebral series, a disarticulated dorsal neural arch, pectoral girdle elements, and left humerus). Its type locality is Barendskraal Farm, which is in an Induan/Olenekian terrestrial mudstone in the Balfour Formation of South Africa.
