Type specimen: a specimen in the MNHN Paris ("P1" in Meckert, 1995), a partial skeleton (distal limb elements are missing). Its type locality is Ranohira (Sakamena Fm.), which is in a Lopingian paralic shale in the Lower Sakamena Formation of Madagascar.
