Sister taxa: Nyctosaurus bonneri, Nyctosaurus lamegoi, Nyctosaurus nanus

Type specimen: YPM 1178, a set of postcrania (Scapulae, coracoids, dorsal and cervical vertebrae, partial forelimbs). Its type locality is Hackberry, which is in a Santonian offshore horizon in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.

• Cretaceous of United States (3: Kansas collections)
