Type specimen: SDSM 8656, a partial skeleton (skull, mandible, dorsal vertebra, caudal vertebra). Its type locality is near Whitewood, SDSM V751, which is in a Valanginian terrestrial horizon in the Lakota Formation of South Dakota.

Distribution: found only at near Whitewood, SDSM V751
