Type specimen: lectotype IRScNB CtM 567/Reg 198, a partial skull (left periotic). Its type locality is Deurne (Fort 1), Antwerpen Sands Member, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian open shallow subtidal sandstone in the Berchem Formation of Belgium.
