Type specimens:

  • Peltosaurus granulosus: AMNH No. 1610. Its type locality is Cedar Creek, which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of Colorado.
  • Peltosaurus abbotti: FMNH 12861, a partial skull (imperfect skull and lower jaws).
