Type specimen: BMNH M23345, a tooth (left lower molar). Its type locality is Cliff End bonebed [Fairlight Cliffs, near Hastings], which is in a Valanginian estuary/bay conglomerate in the Wadhurst Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
