Type specimens:

  • Benthamaspis conica: GSC 56873, a cephalon/head (cranidium). Its type locality is Catoche Formation type section, which is in a Cassinian open shallow subtidal limestone/dolomite in the Catoche Formation of Canada.
  • Benthamaspis hintzei: NFM F-175, a pygidium. Its type locality is BH-95A-114, which is in a Cassinian peritidal lime mudstone/wackestone in the Catoche Formation of Canada.
  • Oculomagnus obreptus: YPM 18201, a cephalon/head (cranidium).

Ecology: fast-moving low-level epifaunal deposit feeder

• Ordovician of Canada (9: Alberta, Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador collections), Norway (2), United States (3: Idaho, Utah)

• Arenig of Greenland (1)

• Cassinian of Canada (6: Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador)

• Jeffersonian of Canada (5: Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador)
