Sister taxa: Apheloscyta mayae, Apheloscyta xiangdongensis

Type specimen: GSQI98, a tegmen. Its type locality is Denmark Hill Insect Bed (Dunstan 1915-1916 collection), which is in a Norian pond siltstone in the Blackstone Formation of Australia.
