Type specimens:
- Paryphella orbicularis: NIGP 43647. Its type locality is Jiaozishan Section Bed 26 (AJ-44), Anshun County, which is in a Changhsingian offshore mudstone in China.
- Paryphella laohushanensis: Its type locality is Laohushan, Dalong Fm, Jiangle County, which is in a Changhsingian marine siliciclastic in the Dalong Formation of China.
