Belongs to Palaeopleurosaurus according to R. L. Carroll 1985

Type specimen: SMNS 50722, a skeleton. Its type locality is Staatswald Ohmden, Kirchmann quarry, epsilon II/1, which is in a Toarcian marine horizon in the Posidonia Shale Formation of Germany.
