Sister taxa: Avitomyrmex elongatus, Avitomyrmex mastax
Type specimen: 2003.2.11 CDM 035, an exoskeleton (worker generally well preserved). Its type locality is McAbee (CDM collection), which is in a Ypresian lacustrine - large mudstone in Canada.
