Sister taxa: Matutites americanus, Matutites anthonyae, Matutites periosus

Type specimen: CM 36023, a carapace. Its type locality is Lanier Quarry (CM collection), which is in a Bartonian deep subtidal limestone in the Castle Hayne Formation of North Carolina.

Ecology: semi-infaunal carnivore

Distribution: found only at Lanier Quarry (CM collection)
