Sister taxon: Tipuloidea cuyana
Type specimen: YPM IP 034956, a tegmen. Its type locality is Minas de Petroleo (Wieland coll), which is in a Carnian lacustrine delta plain shale/claystone in the Potrerillos Formation of Argentina.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Minas de Petroleo (Wieland coll)
