Sister taxon: Vilviopsis extensa
Type specimen: UNM 13141, a wing (wing missing base). Its type locality is NMMNH L-3433; Carrizo Arroyo (UNM collection), which is in an Asselian pond mudstone in the Bursum Formation of New Mexico.
