Sister taxon: Probnis speciosa
Type specimen: NMMNH P-36578, a forewing (forewing without apex). Its type locality is NMMNH L-3433; Carrizo Arroyo, which is in an Asselian pond mudstone in the Bursum Formation of New Mexico.
